DAVID WADDELL FAISON
July 23, 1954-Sept. 25, 2010
Mr. David Waddell Faison, 56, 304 Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, was the ninth child born to the late Daniel Alton Faison Sr. and the late Addie Serena Best Faison July 23, 1954, in Wayne County.
He departed this life Sept. 25, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
David grew up in the Barnes area of Rosewood, N.C.
He attended Wayne County Public Schools until his graduation from Rosewood High School in 1973. Upon graduation in 1973, he joined the workforce at Nello Teer Rock Quarry in Princeton, N.C. This is where he started his career as a driller. David earned the nickname Smiley there.
He joined in holy matrimony to Carolyn Rawlings Faison Aug. 29, 1975. To this union one child was born.
He loved his family and his loud music when he was young. But, as he got older, he still had love for his family, and also found a new love for the man above. June 20, 2009, he was baptized in Marshville, N.C., and joined Little Rock Baptist Church, and later moved his membership to Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in 2010.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Faison Taylor, and his brother, Clifton Ray Faison.
He leaves to cherish in his loving memory his wife of 35 years, Carolyn Faison; his daughter, Bianca Aisha Taylor of the home; five brothers, Daniel (Nancy) Faison of Goldsboro, N.C., James Faison of Princeton, N.C., William (Leona) Faison of Four Oaks, N.C., John (Ruth) Faison of Suitland, Md., and Archie (Crystal) Faison of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Joyce (William) Jackson of Washington, D.C.; and Shirley Faison of Upper Marlboro, Md.; three special family members, Margaret, Pearline and Paulene; two uncles, Willie (Gladys) Best of Raleigh, N.C., and Luby (Mary) Best of Chesapeake Va.; two aunts, Julia Jackson of Chesapeake, Va., and Elnora Hodges of Chesapeake Va.; mother-in-law, Equillar Rawlings; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; his best friend, Calvin Elliott of Smithfield, N.C.; a special friend, Chum Thomas of Marshville, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A viewing for Mr. Faison will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc. Celebration of life services will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Services by the graveside will be held Tuesday at 12 noon at Selma Memorial Gardens, Selma, N.C. It is in this earthly consign that Mr. Faison will remain until the great reunion, where all of God's children will sit at the King's table and enjoy the royal feast.
