Joseph C. Surratt IV, 29, passed away Wednesday at his residence in Ayden.
Joseph was born in Wayne County to Joseph C. Surratt III and Anita Sheppard Surratt.
He was a 1999 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, and had attended Pitt Community College.
He worked as a manager at Parker's Barbecue in Greenville.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Juliana Surratt of Goldsboro; his brother, Jeremy Surratt of Savannah, Ga.; and his grandmothers, Shirley Surratt of Goldsboro and Helen Johnson of Washington, N.C.
