AUTRYVILLE -- Shirley W. Knowles, 71, 1324 Carroll's Store Road, went to be with her Lord Thursday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Maybell Bordeaux Warrick. She was married to Thomas Knowles for 55 years.
She was a member of Mount Carmel Church of God of Prophecy.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mount Carmel Church of God of Prophecy in Autryville, with bishop Warren Barfield officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Church Cemetery.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Poole and Frieda Knowles of Dunn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara K. and Ronnie Simmons of Autryville and Vickie K. and Mark Turlington of Clinton; her brother, Haywood Warrick of Charlotte; her sisters, Mae W. Shumate of Dudley, Edna Breshears and Christine W. Smith and husband, Waldo, of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Keli Ford and fiance, David Sykes, Brandon Simmons and fiancee, Stacy Riddle, Michelle Simmons, Krystin Turlington, Kameron Turlington and Kara Turlington; two great-grandchildren, Bayli Ford and Dylan Sykes.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sylvia Knowles Ford.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mount Carmel Church Family Life Center, and at other times at the home.
