KARLA "KOKO" DURHAM

Karla "KoKo" Fahnestock Durham, 62, passed away Saturday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.

A service to celebrate her life will be 7 p.m. Monday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Seong Eom officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the family cemetery, located on Memorial Church Road in the Pinkney community.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Vaughn Fahnestock. KoKo was retired from Cherry Hospital with 32 years of service to the State of North Carolina. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she served on the Administrative Council. Upon her retirement from the State of North Carolina, she worked for 11 years with the United Church Ministries. She was a member of the Goldsboro Downtown Lions Club, where she served on the board of directors. KoKo enjoyed the past 28 years traveling and working with her husband with Lionism.

Surviving are her husband, Richard E. Durham; and a brother, Henry "Topper" Fahnestock of Nahunta. In addition, she is survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her brother Gary.

In lieu of flowers, it was KoKo's wish that memorials be made to the North Carolina Lions Foundation Incorporated, P.O. Box 39, Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, 28673.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
