WILLARD R. "BUDDY" HOLMES

DUDLEY -- Willard Ray "Buddy" Holmes, 64, 126 Barnwell Road, died Monday evening at Wayne Hospital in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with pastor Bob Goodman officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

Mr. Holmes had been employed with Thomas Brothers for 17 years as a foreman, and with Stackhouse Inc. as an underground utility supervisor, where he retired with 20 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Blizzard Holmes of the home; his children, Danny Foss of Fuquay-Varina, Delores Summerlin and husband, Gray Summerlin, of Deep Run, Clifton Stroud of Dudley, Debbie Lynn Jernigan of Mount Olive, Paula Davis and husband, Malcolm "Bo" Davis, of Mount Olive, Bobby Strickland of Tucker, Ga., Belinda "Wendy" Holmes of Dudley, Dwayne Strickland and wife, Shannon, of Seven Springs and Donna Rae Holmes and partner, Anitra "Dee" Hurley, of Goldsboro; two sisters, Lettie Faye Williams and Janice Hart both of Mount Olive; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Berry and Lettie Summerlin; a sister, Dollie H. Lee; and two brothers, Leonard Holmes and Edward "Boweevil" Holmes.

Friends and relatives will be received at the residence.
