Marion Virginia Luther Clarke, 92, 807 E. Holly St., died Jan. 28 in Birmingham, Ala.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 19, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Goldsboro at 11 a.m.

She was married to the late Charles Lee Clarke of Goldsboro.

She was an active member of Mosley Memorial Methodist Church in Danville, Va., and St. Luke United Methodist Church in Goldsboro. She was also an active member of Haymount United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, where she and her late husband, Lee, resided for approximately two years.

Mrs. Clarke, better known as Nonie to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved her family and dedicated her life to them.

She and her late husband loved to travel and traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Okinawa and the Far East. Her most recent major trip was four years ago to the Holy Land, traveling with her son, Stuart, and members of her St. Luke United Methodist Church family.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Golden Heirs and the M and M Choir at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, exercising, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by four children, Charles Lee Clarke Jr. and wife, Karen, of Albuquerque, N.M., Fred Stuart Clarke and wife, Martha, of Linden, Barbara Clarke Harris and husband, Mike, of Birmingham, Ala., and Flud VanGiffin and wife, Corrie, of Freisland, Holland; 11 grandchildren, Gray Clarke, Robin Clarke and husband, Joseph Core, Christine Lucius, Justin Clarke and wife, Shea, Holly Stiles and husband, Matt, Josh Harris and wife, Heather, Courtney Clarke, Whitney Harris, Devon Clarke, Taylor Harris and Chandler Clarke; 11 great-grandchildren, Marissa Lucius, Tasnim Clarke, Benjamin Leyba, Dylan Lucius, Kade Core, Isabelle Lucius, Trey Stiles, Alley Harris, Sam Stiles, Charles Harris and Rowan Marion Clarke; and a sister, Cleo Winchell and husband, Tom, of Holland, Mich.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530-6136.
