John Eddie Braswell, 72, 159 Friendly Drive, departed this mortal stay Saturday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.
His life and service to God and mankind will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ). A private interment will be held at a later date.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife of 51 years, Zelda Cox Braswell of the home; his children Audrey (Terry) Mack of Hephzibah, Ga., Linda (Tony) Evans and Gloria Braswell both of Rosewood and Michael E. Braswell of Acworth, Ga.; his sisters, Gladys (Albert) Butler, Isabelle (Alexander) Cox, Mary Marsh, Annie Ruth (Carnell) Greenfield and Shirley (Claude) Jones; 11 grandchildren, including Jennifer N. Braswell, whom he raised; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in the silent chambers of death by two children, Adrian Braswell and John E. Braswell Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends at the residence where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
