MARY LOUISE REDMON

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mary Louise McCuiston Redmon, 88, longtime resident of Mount Olive, died Friday morning at Glen-Care Retirement Center.

A service to celebrate her life and honor her memory will be held at 4 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Mount Olive with Dr. H. Dennis Draper Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following in the church library.

Born in Richlands, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Allen M. McCuiston and Anna Belle Dunlap McCuiston and was their only child. Mrs. Redmon was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive, in which she held many offices through the years. She was locally known for her generous nature and of her involvement in various charitable causes, which include Area Churches in Action Thrift Shop, the food pantry at her church, and the Meals on Wheels program. She was recipient of the Lay Person of the Year award from her church. In 1988, she received the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year Award, and in 1994, she received the Ernest B. Messner Senior Citizen of the Year Award, and she also received various awards from the Area Churches in Action and the Home Bound services.

She was the widow of Emmett D. Redmon, and is survived by their two sons, Emmett D. "Buster" Redmon Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of 144 Loop Road, Goldsboro, and Allen F. Redmon and his wife, Sonja, of 852 Outlaw Road, Dudley; four grandchildren, Paige Redmon Greene and husband, Jason, Matt Redmon, Ian Redmon, and Mike Henderson and his wife, Alisa; and four great-grandchildren, Laura Kathrine, John Allen, and Wila Greene and Brian Henderson. She is also survived by special friends, Mary Beth Morgan and son, Thomas Rouse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are requested to be made to First United Methodist Church, Box 420, Mount Olive, NC 28365.
