Cross Country

C.B. Aycock's own Deshawn Owens prevailed with his best-ever home-course race time at Wednesday night's cross country meet.

Owens took first in boys' action with a time o f 17:57.

Overall, D.H. Conley prevailed in the men's meet and took first place with 20 points --  C.B. Aycock logged 44 points and J.H. Rose clocked 75 points.

C.B. Aycock's Davis Carroll and Chance Hobday snagged eighth and ninth place in the men's meet.

In girls' action, C.B. Aycock's Sarah Gregory came in 11th place with a time of 25:40.

Soccer

Southern Wayne High School's men's soccer team lost 2-0 to Spring Creek in Wednesday evening's match.

Southern Wayne aimed for the net 14 times but missed each shot.

Keeper Kevin Uolla logged seven saves against attempts by Spring creek on the goal, while Southern Wayne's other keeper, Angel Vasquez, had two saves.

The Gators' next game is at South Lenoir High School.

Tennis

C.B. Aycock's girl's tennis team bested Princeton in Wednesday night's match 6 to 3.

The team swept five singles matches and one doubles match.

Singles results are: Meredith Jones def. Mackenzie Evans 6-1, 6-1; Grayson Lane lost to Emily Shallington 6-2, 5-7, 9-11; Karlyn Rae def. Cailee Vetrano 6-1, 6-2; Lexi Reeves def. Jasmine Rubio 6-0, 6-1; Hannah Tyndall def. Lauren Lawhorn 6-6, 7-4, 6-0; Michaela Boyd def. Brittany Creech 6-0, 6-0.

C.B. Aycock closed the doubles matches by winning a round 8-3.

Volleyball

Southern Wayne High School's women's tennis team lost all of their singles and doubles matches to New Bern High School during Wednesday night's competition in New Bern.

Their next match is today, at home, against J.H. Rose.

Southern Wayne's women's tennis conference record is now 0-2.
