Varsity Soccer

Wayne Country Day 9,

Cape Fear Christian Academy 0

Wayne Country Day School men's soccer team gave a dominating performance Tuesday evening, beating Cape Fear Christian Academy 9-0.

 Scoring for the Chargers were Christian Garloch, Caleb Brewer, Ben Cohen, Marquise Newell and Luis Lopez.

Garloch and Brewer knocked two a piece in the back of the net, while Cohen netted a hat trick.

"We started slow, which was disappointing, but got into the game," said WCDS coach Steve Ellis. "Thomas Sumner made a couple of good saves but Cape Fear didn't really trouble us too much. Overall it was a decent performance after a holiday weekend."

Pope John Paul 7,

Wayne Christian 3

Wayne Christian School's men's soccer team lost 7-3 to Pope John Paul High School Tuesday.

For Wayne Christian, Jeremy Bentley scored two goals and Thomas Bouknight scored one. Jaxon Anderson and Bentley each had one assist.

Varsity Tennis

Charles B. Aycock 9,

Southern Wayne 0

Charles B. Aycock High School's women's tennis team  won 9-0 against Southern Wayne High School Tuesday.

Singles results were Meridith Jones def. Kasey Vann 6-0, 6-0; Grayson Lane def. Jaela Heath 6-1, 6-0; Sophia Gumbish def. Mia Fuller 6-0, 6-2; Abbi Shackleford def. Kayla Rayner 6-1, 6-2; Ianey Reeves def. Mary Lee Heath 6-2, 6-0; and Eliana Corrado won her matches 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles competition Ianey Reeves/Grace Mooring def. Kasey Vann/Mia Fuller 8-4; Karlyn Ray/Lexi Reeves def. Damaris Reyes 8-0; and Hannah Tyndall/Michaela Boyd def. Chelby Strickland/Tiffany Outlaw 8-0.

Golf

Rosewood linksters claim second place

Rosewood High School's  women's golf team took home second place in team scoring during Tuesday night's match at the Cardinal Country Club in Pine Level.

The young team has four sophomores and one freshman, and competed against North Johnston High School.

Princeton High School was also represented at the match, but did not enter any official scores, as only one player competed.

Overall, North Johnston penciled a score of 151, while Rosewood logged a score of 201.

Volleyball

WC loses five-setter

Wayne Country Day School's girls volleyball team lost in five sets after traveling to Wayne Christian Tuesday.  

Hannah Neal had 18 kills, Grayson Jeffreys had 16 kills and Cate Eagles had 44 assists.

Rebel sweep

North Duplin High School's varsity and junior varsity girl's volleyball teams both netted wins Tuesday.

Junior varisty won 2-0, while the women's varsity team won 3-0.
