Volleyball

The Lady Chargers of Wayne Country Day School bested the Lady Knights of Greenfield School in three sets Thursday, 25-11, 25-11 and 25-19.

Hannah Neal and Lillian Freeman led the Chargers with 9 kills a piece, while Grayson and Lexe Jeffreys followed closely behind with 8 kills each.

Cate Eagles had 20 assists and 8 aces.

Southern Wayne 0,

J.H. Rose 3

Southern Wayne junior Kya Hunter did her best to lead the Lady Saints to a victory over the Lady Rampants with 3 aces and 4 kills, but the rampage ultimately prevailed over the halos.

J.H. Rose won in three sets, scoring 25-13, 25-8 and 25-5.

Saints senior Olivia Carr had 5 digs, while senior setter Rebecca Coor had 6 assists.

C.B. Aycock 3,

Eastern Wayne 0

C.B. Aycock's Lady Blues swept the Eastern Wayne Lady Warriors in three sets Thursday, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-19.

Star senior Arlanda Faulkner smoked the Warriors by knocking 21 kills down their side.

Her efforts were supported by another high-flying Lady Blue, senior Hannah Carter, who had 23 assists in the match.

North Duplin 3,

Hobbton 1

The North Duplin ladies pulled out a win in four sets Thursday, defeating Hobbton 25-13, 25-20, 24-26 and 25-11.

Taylor Walker led the team in kills, putting down 12. Anna and Callie Thornton both had 7 aces, while Anna Thornton also put up 28 assists.

Abbey Pate had 14 digs on the night.

Tennis

C.B. Aycock 7,

Eastern Wayne 2

C.B. Aycock's girls' tennis team increased their hold on the top seat of the conference Thursday with a 7-2 win over South Central.

After winning two of three doubles matches to kick off the match, the Lady Blues continued that run by sweeping six of seven singles matches.

Singles results were Grayson Lane losing to Jayla Wooten 1-6, 1-6; Meridith Jones def. Merisa Crisp 6-0, 6-3; Karlyn Ray def. Samantha Edgerton 6-4, 6-2; Hannah Tyndall def. Angela Cowo 6-0, 6-1; Lexi Reeves def. Kenia Langley 6-0, 6-1; and Michaela Boyd def. Kim Hooks 6-0, 6-1.

Princeton 9,

North Duplin 0

The Princeton ladies ran a clean sweep Thursday and beat North Duplin 9-0.

Of the six singles sets, only one of them required three rounds to win, with the rest only needing two to clean house.

Soccer

Rosewood 4,

North Duplin 2

Rosewood High School's men's soccer team defeated North Duplin in overtime Thursday night, winning the match 4-2.

Giovanni Abrill had a spectacular night, netting all four goals for the Eagles.

Logan Mitchell had one assist on the night for Rosewood.

 

Golf

Wayne Christian girls golf played at Goldsboro Country Club Thursday with Rosewood, C.B. Aycock and Midway.

The Christian girls penciled in a team score of 162.

JV

Southern Wayne 0

Southern  Wayne lost its Thursday matchup against J.H. Rose in two sets, with Rampants chalking up 25-18 and 25-12.

C.B. Aycock 2,

Eastern Wayne 0

C.B. Aycock's junior ladies followed suit behind their varsity sisters Thursday, beating out Eastern Wayne in two sets, scoring 25-23 and 25-18.

C.B. Aycock 1,

Fike 2

Fike's junior demons shot the Aycock lady falcons out of the sky Wednesday, besting them in three sets.

Fike won by chalking up scores of 16-25, 25-14 and 15-9.

North Duplin 2,

Hobbton 1

The North Duplin junior ladies bested Hobbton in three sets Thursday, winning 25-21, 20-25 and 25-15.
