North Lenoir 40,

Southern Wayne 8

DUDLEY -- Shawntwon Leach had 18 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn't enough to keep Southern Wayne in step with visiting North Lenoir.

"We felt like that this was another game we could've had but they just wanted it more than we did," head coach Ronnie McClary Jr. said.

"Defensively, we've just gotta do better with stopping the run... We'll just learn from this one and prepare for another tough one against Kinston."

Greene Central 40,

Eastern Wayne 21

SNOW HILL -- Eastern Wayne's perfect start was interrupted by a trip to the Greene Mile on Friday, as the Warriors fell by a count of 41-20.

Spring Creek 36,

Hobbton 14

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek continued its solid play of late on Friday, registering a dominant-in-all phases, 36-14 victory over Carolina 1-A member Hobbton.

Such was the case Friday, as North Duplin smashed Lejeune, 42-8, on the refined strength of its option running game.

Now 4-0 on the season, North Duplin travels to Chocowinity next week for a non-conference tilt with Southside.

Rosewood 15

BURGAW -- Michael Reid rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown, but Pender upended Rosewood, 20-15 on Friday night.

Jack White led RHS in receiving with three grabs for 48 yards.

"Pender played a hard-fought game and capitalized on our many mistakes," head coach Robert Britt said. "We definitely have some specific issues we need to address at practice next week, and I'm extremely confident our kids will work hard to get the mistakes corrected."

The Eagles face South Lenoir at "the Nest" next week.

St. David's 68,

Wayne Christian 8

Wayne Christian was turned back by St. David's of Raleigh on Friday, by a score of 68-8.
