Mitch Turnage swatted a pair of solo home runs as Wayne Country Day and Wilson Christian battled to an 8-8, non-conference draw.
The game was called after seven innings due to darkness.
"Not a bad first game of the year," WCDS head coach Michael Taylor said. "We swung the bats OK, but not great ... took too many pitches early in the count, then we are having to hit the pitcher's pitch. Our pitchers did a great job throwing strikes, getting ground balls and fly outs."
John Strickland doubled in two-hit, two-RBI effort. Parker Smith (RBI), Amane Godo, Patrick Hall and Jacob Magera (RBI) each had a hit.
Godo surrendered four runs (three earned) and logged two strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Hall threw two-thirds of an inning and Strickland finished out the game with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
The Chargers (0-0-1 overall) travel to Northwood Temple on Friday.
