Eastern Wayne swept the doubles courts and handed New Bern a 7-2 loss in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play Thursday afternoon.
The tandems of Le Solomon-Dylan March, Gray Sasser-Walker Davis and Ethan Quinn-Ian Burchett each prevailed on the doubles courts. Sasser-Davis won 9-7, while Quinn-Burchett dropped just one game.
Quinn, March, Davis and Nathan Fleming each emerged victorious in singles.
"This was a truly a team effort in today's match," EW head coach Craig Hassell said. "Our players battled well in singles. I was very impressed with our doubles performance as well. In our first two matches, I have seen growth in our play.
"We have experience, talent and some depth on this year's squad which I hope will pay dividends as the season progresses."
