* Baseball: Eastern Wayne 4, North Lenoir 2 -- Nathan Bell permitted one hit over a five-inning stint and Ryan Sullivan earned the save during the Warriors' season-opening win. Jason Mitchell logged the lone hit for Eastern Wayne, which capitalized on 13 walks and one hit batsman.
* Girls' soccer: Eastern Wayne 7, South Lenoir 1 -- Freshman Alana Kazar notched four goals, including a hat trick (three goals) in the first half. Sophomore Amina Becirovic, junior Barbara Ruiz Saldana and freshman Jamia Waters each added a goal.
* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 14, Hunt 1 (5 inn.) -- Sophomore Tyler Daniels batted 3-for-3 with an RBI during the Golden Falcons' season-opening, mercy-rule win. Jordan Gay (RBI), Carson Smitherman (two RBI), Blake Gipson (RBI) and Nick Aycock (RBI) supplied two hits apiece. Seth Harrison and Cody Whaley each had one hit. Sophomore Jordan Gay and Whaley combined for a four-hitter and four strikeouts on the mound. Whaley earned the win.
