MOUNT OLIVE -- University of Mount Olive surrendered a pair of four-run innings and couldn't overcome six defensive miscues in a 10-2, non-conference loss to in-state baseball rival Catawba on Tuesday afternoon.
The Trojans scored a run in each of the first and fifth innings.
UMO's Zak Orrison batted 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Brett Lang (RBI), Ricky Surum, Alvin Swoop and Stephen Wallace supplied one hit apiece.
David Mayo took the mound loss.
Mount Olive (6-5 overall) returns to action this weekend with a Conference Carolinas series at Emmanuel (Ga.) College. The teams will play a single game Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday.
