Rosewood upends JK in Carolina 1A volleyball quarterfinals

SALEMBURG -- Setter Ada Rivera had 35 assists and Ashley Thornton had 16 kills as Rosewood defeated James Kenan 23-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 15-8 in quarterfinal-round play of the Carolina 1-A Conference volleyball tournament on Monday evening.
Callie Thornton added 16 digs and Lexi Mercer had 16 kills, seven blocks and four digs.
Rosewood faces regular-season champ Lakewood today at James Kenan. Match time is 7 p.m. at Harmon Gym.
