ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Country Day attempted 20 more shots than Faith Christian of Rocky Mount, but endured a 1-0 loss in its regular-season finale Tuesday afternoon.

Head coach Steven Ellis attributed the lack of scoring to a combination of good goalkeeping and wayward shooting.

"It was a weird game to lose, we dominated from start to finish but couldn't get the goal," Ellis said. "Our play throughout the game was great and one of the lads actually said after the game that it didn't feel like a loss. We have to take our chances as we head into playoffs and make our solid play count."

WCDS (12-6-1 overall) is expected to receive an at-large bid to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association playoffs, which begin Friday. The 12-team field will be announced later today.
