 James Roger “Jimmy” Rose Jr., 84, Princeton, died Friday afternoon at Johnston UNC Health Care in Smithfield.

He was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Johnston County to the late James Roger and Elizabeth Robert Warren Rose.

He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Wayne Rose and daughter, Paula Elizabeth Rose Porter.

Jimmy was a United States Army veteran, of the Korean Conflict. After his time in the Army he returned to Johnston County, and began farming. Something he continued the rest of his working life.

Funeral will Monday at 7 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Princeton Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Holt Rose; sisters, Connie Rose Parnell, of Goldsboro and Ann Rose Parrish, of Smithfield; and two grandsons, Jacob Ryan Porter, of Smithfield and Johnathan Wayne Rose and wife, Edith, of Virginia Beach, Va.
