Shirley Pendergraft Hope, 73, Goldsboro, was called home Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord.
Shirley was born in Sampson County Dec. 5, 1943, to the late John Pendergraft and Mildred Martin Smith.
She was married to the late Ernest A. Hope, who preceded her in death March 23, 2007.
Shirley had worked with R.G. Barry Co. in Goldsboro and later with Sam's Club.
She was a caring, loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.
Shirley was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
She also supported her husband in many of his business activities.
The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, followed by a service to celebrate Shirley's life at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Christian Powell officiating. Interment will conclude the service in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Connie Ham and husband, the Rev. Ricky Ham, and Christy Hope; son, Mark Allen Hope and wife, Susie; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Hope.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Gideon Memorial Bible Fund, Goldsboro North Camp, P.O. Box 10093, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
