Alice Jennie Bowen Green, 92, Goldsboro, went to be with her Lord Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, while she was surrounded by her family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Alice was born in Warrensburg, N.Y., May 30, 1925, to the late Leroy and Iona Petteys Bowen.
She was married to the late Owen Clyde Green, who preceded her in death July 28, 2009.
Alice enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of so many students while serving as an elementary school teacher.
She was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church.
Alice was a generous and gracious woman. She will be remembered for the love and laughter that she shared during her well-lived life.
The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, followed by a service to celebrate Alice's life in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Colby Leonard, the Rev. Dr. John Dutton and the Rev. Robert Bandy officiating.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Karen Rains and husband, Glenn, of Goldsboro; her sons, retired Lt. Col. Gary Green and wife, Julie, of Wilmington, Paul Green of Oklahoma City, Okla., and retired Senior Master Sgt. David Green and wife, Patricia, of Edmeston, N.Y.; her sister, Marilyn Marston of Berwyn, Pa.; her sister-in-law, Joan Bowen of Warrensburg, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Allison Green, the Rev. Lindsey Green Eklund (Scott), Shelby Green Holman (Dan), Joseph Green, Corey Green and Hillary Rains Taylor (Jeshua); and six great-grandchildren.
