IVA H. PITTMAN

Iva Howell Pittman, 95, Goldsboro, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, at Wayne UNC Healthcare surrounded by her family.

Iva was born in Wayne County, N.C., Oct. 11, 1921, to the late Redden Howell and Fannie Davis Howell. She was married to the late Royster Pittman.

Iva was retired from O'Berry Center, and was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church.

She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and support for the people she cared about. Her enthusiasm and charm will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate Iva's life will be Friday, July 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Dr. Mike Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Iva is survived by her son, Ralph Allen Hooks of Arizona; sister, Betty Edmundson of Wilson; stepchildren, Ralph Pittman and Linda Starling both of Princeton; three stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Iva was preceded in death by her brothers, Exum Howell, Ransom Howell, Jack Howell, Paul Howell and Jesse Howell; sisters, Erma Varnell, Harriett Lamm, Louise Smith, Dorothy Turner and Marjorie Pike; and her stepson, James E. Pittman.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
