Robert E. "Bill" Lynch Jr., Cibolo, Texas, formerly of Seven Springs, N.C., passed away after a valiantly fought battle with lung cancer.

Bill was the son of Robert and Jean Lynch (deceased) and brother of Jackie Schulke of New Port Ritchie, Fla., and Steven Lynch of Portland, Ore.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bertha Benton Lynch; two daughters, Darlene Runkle and husband, Bill, of Garden Ridge, Texas, and Samantha Kintner of Wichita Falls, Texas; son, Dr. Robert Lynch III of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bill was a graduate of Seven Springs High School and North Carolina State College.

Bill served his country in the United States Army with a tour in Vietnam.

After retiring from Civil Service as an engineer, Bill enjoyed his time with his family, being the greatest granddad ever, and in fellowship with friends, volunteering at the golf course, Kiwanis Club, church and local school district, and fulfilled his childhood dreams of becoming a long-distance truck driver and car salesman for a brief time.

Services will be held at Schertz United Methodist Church in Schertz, Texas, Saturday, May 28. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
