Margaret Winders Myers, 89, Mount Olive, formerly of the Beautancus community, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro Friday evening.

She is survived by her seven children, Doris Whitley and husband, Earl, of Mount Olive, Ralph Ellis Myers of Greenville, Rufus Ray Myers and wife, Rhonda, of Mount Olive, Brenda Joyce Morton and husband, Danny, of Greenville, Sharon Dixon and husband, Arnold, of Mount Olive, Randy Lynn Myers and wife, Jeannie of Mount Olive, and Gerald Myers of Goldsboro; four sisters, Rachel Carlton of Warsaw, Maelina Kearney of Stantonsburg, Melba Thompson of Grantham and Geraldine Deaver of Mount Olive; a brother, J.L. Winders of Florida; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Major Franklin and Nettie Thompson Winders; her husband, Paul Reddic Myers; a daughter, Paulette M. Holloman; her siblings, Grace Johnson, Betty Jean Walker, Ruby Britt, Thelma Pate, Roy, Rodney and Melvin Winders; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Myers.

Margaret was one of the oldest members of Bear Marsh Baptist Church, where she worshipped for years and called home, and was a member of the Woman's Ministry Union.

She also enjoyed quilting with her sisters in the years past.

A service to celebrate and remember the life of Margaret Myers will be held Monday evening, May 30, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Rose and pastor Jeff Dail will officiate the service, followed by a time of visitation with the family.

Burial will take place Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in Calypso Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Bear Marsh Baptist Church, c/o Tim Bell, 368 Jones-Turner Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the care provided to its mother at Countryside Assisted Living, and to the staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
