ALLAN ALAWAR

Died May 9, 2016

Aref K. "Allan" Alawar, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep May 9, 2016, while visiting his native home Lebanon.

His wishes were to be buried there next to his deceased parents and three siblings.

A service celebrating Allan's life will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, with the Rev. Michael Lewis officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Aref Alawar came to the United States in 1969 to visit his brother, and decided he liked it here, so he then sent after his wife and five children. They resided in Greene County for the first two years before buying Buck's Restaurant in Pikeville back in the early 1970s. He and his family operated Buck's for more than 43 years.

Anyone who walked through his doors was a friend. "Hello, my friend!" was how he greeted all his customers.

Allan was an honest hard working man, father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He would do anything for his family and friends to see them happy.

The only drive he had in life was to provide for his children, and to give them a better life.

Allan was loved by many, and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Going through several near death illnesses and a fatal car accident years ago where doctors gave him a slight chance to live, Allan always came out fighting, surprising doctors and all because his only strength to survive were his wife and kids. His kids today consider those bonus years, but now came the time that our maker needed him as much as they do, and called him to join his family in heaven.

Allan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nabiha "Nancy" Alawar of Pikeville; four daughters of Goldsboro, Rola Alawar and husband, Issam "Steve," Hala Elaawar and husband, Rabih, Rema Sabra and Dalal "Dee" Ismail; one son, Nadiem "Jimmy" Alawar and wife, Veronica, of Rome, Italy; one sister, Salma Alawar of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many friends and family across America and his native country.

The family would like to thank everyone for their concern and condolences and for all their kind words.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.
