LELIA MAE GODWIN

Lelia Mae Price Godwin, 90, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Mae was born in Wayne County, N.C., July 31, 1925, to the late Alphonso Price and Gladys Ethel Metts Price. She was married to the late Jack Rudolph Godwin Sr.

For more than 50 years, Mae worked as the office manager for O'Berry and Lewis Insurance Co. in Goldsboro.

She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and Goldsboro Order of the Eastern Star No. 54.

A service to celebrate Mae's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Adam Seate and the Rev. Rufus Butner officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mae is survived by her daughter, Nancy G. Parker and husband, Jerry, of Pikeville; son, Jack Rudolph Godwin Jr. and wife, Patricia, of New Bern; and her sister, Geraldine P. Bryan and husband, Bobby, of Fayetteville.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristin Koekkoek and husband, Frank, Jack Ryan Parker and Kyle Bryce Parker, and her great-grandchildren, Carleigh Koekkoek, Kamdyn Koekkoek, Kyndall Koekkoek, Kailyn Koekkoek, Konner Koekkoek and Gavin Parker.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mae was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Price, and sisters, Louise P. Butler, Ethel P. Montague, Clarissie P. Clark and Mildred P. Hendrix.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 9, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 200 Marlin Lane, Pikeville, N.C.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care it provided for Mae during her final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.
