MARGARET M. PEACOCK

Margaret Maude Peacock, 93, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at her home.

Margaret was born in Wayne County Sept. 13, 1921, to the late Walter Lee and Mattie Russell Peacock.

She attended Greensboro College, and had worked with the Wayne County Register of Deeds office for 42 years, and proudly held the office of Register of Deeds for Wayne County from 1972 to 1988.

Margaret, an avid bridge player, was a woman who loved God, her family and life, and was loved by everyone who knew her.

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames.

The family will receive friends in the parlor of St. Paul United Methodist Church Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by a service to celebrate Margaret's life at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary, with pastor James Harry and pastor Phyllis Vail officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Margaret is survived by several nieces and nephews she loved very dearly, Ann P. Martin (Jim), Faye Peacock, Beverly P. Crotts (Steve), Nancy P. Murphy, John S. Peacock (Janet), Russell Spicer (Herman), Hazel Morgan (Clay), Bill King (Zelda), Jack Peacock (Gayle), Hannah P. Nixon (Alan), Lee Peacock (Judy) and Pam P. Gordon (Alan).

She is also survived by her beloved dog, Lulu.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Campaign, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
