GLENDA S. ROLLINS

Glenda Sasser Burch Rollins, 71, Goldsboro, passed away suddenly Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, after a brief illness, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family.

Glenda was born in the Suttontown community of Sampson County Dec. 28, 1942, to the late Rebekah and Arthur Sasser Jr.

She was married to the late Clayton U. Burch, who preceded her in death March 19, 2010.

After graduating from Mount Olive High School, Glenda attended King's Business School before beginning her first employment with the city of Raleigh Police Department.

Glenda later returned home, and worked for a short time with Southern Bell Telephone Co.

For 22 years, Glenda worked with Dee's Law Office in Goldsboro, and later worked with Branch Bank and Trust Co., where she retired after 20 years of service.

Following retirement, Glenda went to work for a short time with the Wayne County Register of Deeds.

Glenda was a longtime member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her church, and was involved in many activities, where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

After her marriage to Joe Rollins Sept. 7, 2012, Glenda began attending Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

Glenda had a sparkle in her eye and a heartwarming, generous spirit, always making everyone feel at home. Her faith, strength and courage during challenging times inspired all who knew her.

Glenda's sense of humor, unconditional love and deeply caring nature graced us all. She will be remembered for her love of flowers and nature, as well as her auctioneer abilities.

When her husband, Clayton, became disabled, Glenda trained with her husband to become an auctioneer, and she excelled in this ability.

A service celebrating Glenda's life will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sherman Dilley and the Rev. Leland Heath officiating.

The family will greet friends Monday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Park.

Glenda will be remembered, and is survived by her husband, Joe Rollins; brother, Sebron Sasser and wife, Shelbe; stepchildren, Becky Hare and husband, Jimmy and Alison Syverson and husband, Mike; stepgrandchildren, Jessica Nicole Hare, Matthew James Hare and Gavin Clark Syverson; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Holt.
