Margaret "Mobbit" Carlyle Vail, 67, LaGrange, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014.
Margaret was born Aug. 10, 1947, in Lenoir County to the late Fred Horace Carlyle and Eleanor Taylor Carlyle.
Margaret retired from O'Berry Center following 30 years of service, and was a member of LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church.
Margaret will be remembered for her larger-than-life personality, her sense of humor, her ability to bring a smile to those she came in contact with and her homemade "Mobbit greeting cards."
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie V. Hobgood officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Tracy McIlwean and husband, Kenney; son, Clifton Vail; seven grandchildren, Austin, Michala, Holden, Piper, Dylan, Erica and Andrew; sister, Elsie Holmes and husband, Royce; and a brother, Wayne Carlyle.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Christie Carlyle.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rouse Funeral Home.
