Ernest Craven Brewer, 77, Warsaw, passed away at his home Friday, Sept. 19, 2014.
He was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Faison, N.C., the son of the late Esthel Craven and Helen Ellis Brewer.
Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife, Ellen Lentz Brewer of Warsaw, N.C.; two sons, Ellis Craven Brewer (Tracy) of Greenville, S.C., and Warren Lentz Brewer (Angie) of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter, Margaret Linn (Tom) of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Molly Riegle Linn and Claire Rainey Linn; two brothers, Glenn D. Brewer (Melba) of Faison, N.C., and D. Ray Brewer (Elizabeth) of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; a sister, Debora Brewer of Wake Forest, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Peggy Brewer of Faison, N.C.; and his beloved dog, Sir Walter Wally.
Mr. Brewer was predeceased by his brother, Louis A. Brewer.

Graveside service will be held at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 U.S. 117 South in Dudley, N.C., Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Joe Ward officiating.
Mr. Brewer was a retired commander in the United States Navy Reserve Unit, having served for 28 years.
He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill class of 1959, a lifelong fan of the University of North Carolina "Tarheels" and a brother in Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Pet Friends of Duplin County, P.O. Box 152 Wallace, N.C., 28466.
