SHIRLEY M. LANE

May 25, 1935-Sept. 29, 2014

Shirley Moore Lane, 79, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Somerset Court of Goldsboro surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born in Duplin County May 25, 1935, to the late Richard and Elmyrtle Holloman Moore. She was married to the late John Claude Lane.

Shirley was a hard-working woman, which was the theme of her life; she lived to work.

Following retirement, Shirley worked faithfully for many years with Seymour Funeral Home.

She was the kind of woman who was loyal to her family, who took great pride in her home and for caring and providing for them.

Shirley worked as a seamstress for many years, and will be remembered by her family for being an excellent cook, who prepared many cakes and pies for others.

She was a member of Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church.

A service remembering Shirley will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Sutton officiating. A private interment for the family will be held Monday at Pikeville Cemetery.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Bonnie "Lois" Price of Pikeville; son, Jimmy Lane and wife, Teresa, of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren, Melissa L. McClure and husband, David, of Pikeville and Adam Lane of Goldsboro.

She is also survived by sisters, Edna Smith of Kinston, Lois Jones of Kinston and Kay Kienle of Wilmington, and her sister-in-law, Luvenia Gurley of Goldsboro.

In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Bogey, and brother, Roland Moore.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be sent to Somerset Court of Goldsboro Activity Department, 603 Lockhaven Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or the charity of your choice.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Home Health and Hospice for the love and care it provided for Shirley during her final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.

Also a thank you to the staff at Somerset Court, who cared for Shirley over these past years.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
