Mrs. Betty Lou Cooke Jones, 74, Mount Olive native and longtime resident, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 15, 2014, at The Cottage at Spring Arbor of Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Harrison officiating, followed by visitation. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive.

Betty Lou, a retired hairstylist with a long tenure of service at the local nursing home, was the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Daisy Mozingo Cooke.

She was the widow of Charlie Bernard Jones, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Cooke Chesson, and a brother, Charlie Cooke.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Christie Jones of Winterville; a daughter and son-in-law, Lou Ann and Rob Jones of Dunn; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Daniel Jones of Winterville and Caleigh and Matthew Jones of Dunn; a very special friend, Mel Johnson of Wilson; a longtime dear friend, Terri Daly of Goldsboro; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jean Cooke of Kinston, Calvin Chesson and wife, Eleanor, of Charlotte, Barbara Jones Flowers and Buddy Flowers of Calypso, Davis Sloan of Calypso and Roy Lee Taylor of Calypso; and several nieces and nephews.
