Thomas Weldon "Welt" Shingleton, 84, Stantonsburg, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, in his home.
Funeral Monday 7 p.m. at Stantonsburg Baptist Church, followed by a time of visiting and sharing. Interment Tuesday 10 a.m. at Stantonsburg Cemetery.
Welt had been a Greene County farmer all his life, and was a life member of Stantonsburg Baptist Church. Through the years, he served on various boards and commissions in the county.
Surviving are his wife, Inez Wheeler Shingleton; daughters, Vickie Shingleton of Wilson and Shelia Carraway (Dr. Jay) of Snow Hill; son, Marshall Shingleton (Paula) of Stantonsburg; grandchildren, Holly Tant (Jason), Tiffany Shingleton, Blair Conway (Jason) and Lauren Carraway; great-grandchildren, Landin Tant and Jase Shingleton; and brothers, Dr. Royce Shingleton of Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Dalton Shingleton of Raleigh.
