Paul Smith Brown, 83, Fremont, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 16, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St. in Fremont.

The family will receive friends afterward.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born in Wayne County July 1, 1930, to the late Lummie and Addie Davis Brown.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, and attended Lucama Independent Holiness Church.

He is survived by his wife, Velva Brown; two sons, Larry Dale Brown and wife, Diane, of Lucama and Danny Paul Brown of Fremont; two daughters, Paulette "Polly" Williams and husband, Andy, of Fremont and Joanna "Jo" Boykin of Fremont; two brothers, Gerald Brown and wife, Geraldine, of Goldsboro and Linwood Brown and wife, Lois, of Wilson; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Fields, and a brother, Edward Brown.

The family will receive friends other times at the home of Andy and Polly Williams, 817 N.C. 222 East in Fremont.

The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
