LT. COL. RUSSELL STAUFFER KEEN

Lt. Col. Russell Stauffer Keen, Retired U.S.A.F., 93, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Lt. Col. Keen was born in Spring City, Pa., on Sept. 6, 1920, to the late Abraham Stauffer Keen and Anna Wentzel Keen.

He was married to the late Sara Alice Landis Keen.

Lt. Col. Keen began his career as an accountant and later volunteered to join the United States Army Air Corps, which began a career in the United States Air Force that encompassed 34 years. Lt. Col. Keen proudly served his country during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, he enjoyed volunteering at the Base Pharmacy.

Lt. Col. Keen was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and the Order of the Daedalians. His passion was golf, and he was a member of the Walnut Creek Country Club. If it was a beautiful day, he enjoyed being on the links sharing shots and laughter with his friends. Lt. Col. Keen also enjoyed traveling with his family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Bob Fulkerson officiating. Interment will take place next week at Parker Ford Baptist Church in Pennsylvania with full military honors.

Lt. Col. Keen is survived by his daughters, Barbara McGram and husband, Thomas, of Kirkland, Wash.; Nancy Zobel and husband, Woody, of Bremerhaven, Germany, and Donna Brock and husband, David, of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at his home.
