SEVEN SPRINGS -- Lucille Potts Strickland, 87, passed away quietly at her home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Ralph Parker and the Rev. Johnny Sasser, and followed by visitation. Committal and interment will be Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Friends and family are also being received at the residence, 3157 N.C. 55 East in Seven Springs.

Mrs. Strickland lived a quiet life, and was content at being a farmer's wife, a mama and grandma and a homemaker.

She attended Wayne Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Ben Strickland; a son, Edward Strickland; her parents, Luther and Alma Mitchell Potts; and her siblings.

Her survivors include her sons, Major Strickland Jr., known to most as Buddy, and his wife, Glenda Daniels Strickland, of Seven Springs, who was more like a daughter than an in-law, Danny Strickland of Seven Springs and Larry Strickland of the home.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Terry Strickland, Kevin Strickland, Ashley Strickland, Danny Strickland, Michelle S. Hawkins, Lindsey S. Edmundson and Wendy Strickland; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Yvonne Tripp of Snow Hill.

The Strickland family gives special thanks and acknowledges the goodness of Mrs. Strickland's caregiver, Gwendolyn Jacobs, and also Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the great care and support shown to her and to the family during her lengthy period of illness.

Also, a special thanks from the family to Jane and Danny Strickland Jr. for their assistance in caring for Grandma Lucille.
