Lila Mae Strickland Murray, 94, passed away Tuesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Evander and Ludie Thomas Strickland, the wife of the late Claude W. Murray and mother of the late Jimmy Ray Murray.

She was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Murray will be held Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at Victory Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Fred Crank officiating.

Family members will greet friends at the church immediately following the service.

Mrs. Murray is survived by her sons, the Rev. Thomas Murray of Saulston and Jesse Wayne Murray of Goldsboro; her daughters, Rosa Lamm and husband, Carl, of Mount Olive and Margaret Tyndall of Fremont; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, P.O. Box 167, Goldsboro, to assist with funeral expenses.
