BILLY GERALD SMITH

Billy Gerald Smith, 83, passed away early Tuesday morning at Woodard's Care.
Billy was born in Wayne County Aug. 22, 1929, to the late Dewey O. Smith and Ella Barnes Smith.
He was employed by Sears in Goldsboro, and retired after 27 years of service.
Billy proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 26, 2013, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Pine Forest United Methodist Church, followed by a celebration of his life at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Vann Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
Billy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Jordan Smith; daughter, Denise Smith and husband, Todd, of Pikeville; sons, Gerald Smith and wife, Terry, of Charlotte, Bryan Smith of Albemarle and David Smith of Goldsboro; sisters, Marjorie Hensley of Goldsboro and Christine Caudle of Salisbury; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, including Manuel and DeeDee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Lillie Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 S. N.C. 581, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
