Mary Elizabeth Dixon, 76, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Mary was born in Edgecombe County April 24, 1937, to the late Sam and Mary Ruth Summerlin.

She retired from the Exchange Service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Mary was a longtime active member of Adamsville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 39 years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Adamsville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Smeltzer officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mary is survived by her husband, Jim Dixon; daughters, Sandra Sanderson and husband, Rick, of Tarboro and Donna Gupton and husband, Terry, of Power Springs, Ga.; son, James Dixon of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Eric Sanderson, Shelley Nelson and husband, John, Stuart Sanderson, Garrett Gupton and wife, Allison, and Olivia Gupton; great-grandson, Cash Nelson; sister, Alice Hale; and sisters-in-law, Edna Blowe, Barbara Collins and Gracie Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Cures for Colors, 103 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home.
