DUDLEY -- Elizabeth Daughtry Smith, 84, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Love Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Elizabeth was born in Sampson County on Feb. 4, 1928, to the late Solomon E. Daughtry and Margaret Ann Honeycutt Daughtry. Although Elizabeth leaves a vacant place in our hearts, we know she truly earned her special place in heaven. Elizabeth will always be remembered as a woman of faith, love and respect for everyone who touched her life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will always be loved by her children and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jesse Gray Smith; sons, Steve Smith and wife, Laura, of Dudley, Butch Smith and wife, Linda, of Cary, Craig Smith and wife, Debbie, of Cary, and Lt. Col. (Retired) Blake Smith and wife, Katerina, of Yuba City, Calif.; brother, Mack Daughtry of Suttontown; grandsons, Phillip Smith, Kevin Smith, Brian Smith, Shane Smith, Ashley Smith, Matthew Smith, Christopher Smith; granddaughter, Jennifer Smith; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Nicholas Smith, Kaitlyn Smith, Gray Smith, Cole Smith, Carson Smith and Brayden Smith.
The family will receive friends today, Jan. 27, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
