REV. W.B. SATTERFIELD

Oct. 13, 1922-Jan. 27, 2013

LAGRANGE -- The Rev. Walter Barkley "W.B." Satterfield, 90, passed peacefully into that far better life with his Lord and Savior and with those beloved family who went on before early Sunday morning. Rev. Satterfield was a man of God who loved the Lord and his family and set an example for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

Services celebrating Rev. Satterfield's life will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at 7 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Bill Rose and Bishop Jimmy Whitfield officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

Rev. Satterfield was born in Halifax County, Va. on Oct. 13, 1922 to the late Walter William Satterfield and Maggie Mae Jones Satterfield. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Alice Nicholas Satterfield. Rev. Satterfield proudly served his country in the 63rd Infantry Division of the United States Army during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded, just two years ago, with the Bronze Star for his service to our country.

Rev. Satterfield was an ordained minister with the North Carolina Pentecostal Holiness Conference for over 65 years, having served nine churches. After retiring, he and his wife joined The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro, where they became an important part of the ministry at the church. Rev. Satterfield was a man ordained by God to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ and did so with pride and Biblical expertise.

He is survived by his children, Lena S. Graham and husband, Herb, of Chiefland, Fla., Jerry W. Satterfield and wife, Elaine, of Mooresville, Nancy S. Fields and husband, Glenn, of LaGrange, and Bridgette S. Daniels and husband, Foy, of Dudley; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Hayes of South Boston, Va., and Beverly Gholson of Richmond, Va.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Community Home Care and Hospice for the love and care they provided for Rev. Satterfield, especially Holly and Benita. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.
