VAYRIA 'BUNNIE' MAE FIELDS WHITLEY

Vayria "Bunnie" Mae Fields Whitley, 78, Westover Drive, passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 9, 2013, at home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Vayria was born in Greene County Oct. 22, 1934, to the late John Henry and Minnie Stanley Fields.

She was past employed with O'Berry Center as a health care technician.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharlene (Tommy) Register of Goldsboro and Tammy (Dwight) Tyner of Pikeville; her grandchildren, Eddie Hinson of Goldsboro, Valerie Hinson Holland (Brandon) of Princeton, Amber Hinson Goodson (Jeremiah) of Goldsboro, Eugene Tyner (Brandi) of Pikeville and Stacy Tyner Finley (Joe) of Moyock; great-grandchildren, Alex, Will, Josh, Allison, Mallory, Gavin and Natalie, and awaiting the birth of Olivia; sisters, Gladys Edwards of Goldsboro and Judy (Dan) Price of Angier; brother, Elmer Fields (Imogene) of Hampton, Va.; sister-in-law, Melva Gurley Thompson of Pikeville; brothers-in-law, Woodard (Ruby) Gurley of LaGrange, Harold (Dorothy) Gurley of Goldsboro and Walter Gurley of Pikeville; and her beloved dog, Snuggles, and cat, Lizzie.

Vayria was preceded in death by two daughters, Amy Gurley Lane and Kimberly Gurley; husbands, William Edmond Gurley and Marion Joseph Whitley; sister, Myrtie Hunt; and brothers, Thomas Fields, Walter Fields, Earl Fields, Marvin Fields and Johnny Fields.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, Jan. 11, 2013, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at the residence.
