GERALDINE J. WRAY

WARSAW -- Mrs. Geraldine Jones Wray, 86, went to heaven Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, while at Unihealth Post Acute Care in Raleigh, which had been her home for the past four years.
A native of Mount Olive, she was the daughter of the late Frankie Napier Jones and Noah Wilson Jones, and graduated from Brogden High School in 1944.
She had been a longtime resident of Warsaw, where she was a member of Warsaw Presbyterian Church.
She retired from the business office at Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville.
Her love for her family and friends was endless. Throughout the Bible, God reminds us to love one another, to care for one another and to treat one another as we wish to be treated, and that is the way Mrs. Wray lived her life. She was always ready to share a kind word or a kind deed.
She kept a calendar so she would always remember to call or mail a card to wish a "Happy Birthday" or "Happy Anniversary."
She was always baking a cake or cooking "good ole country food" to take to her family and friends whenever there was a special occasion or just because she was thinking of them.
The moments in her life she loved and cherished the most were the ones she spent with her grandchildren, children and other family.
Mrs. Wray is survived by her two loving daughters and a son-in-law, Linda W. Juba of Wilmington and Debbie W. and Randy Holt of Raleigh; also a nephew, whom she loved as a son, L.E. Stroud and his wife, Jeri, of Raleigh; five precious grandchildren, John and Robbie Juba of Wilmington, Ashley Holt of Raleigh, Shelby Harrison of Kinston and Allison McNeill of Turkey; and four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two wonderful sisters, Lovine "Lucy" Goodman of Greensboro and Josephine "Jo" Summerlin of Goldsboro; a sweet brother, Noah Jones and wife, Joan, of Warsaw; a brother-in-law more like a brother, Maylon Weeks of Mount Olive; a very special cousin, Faith Barber Ashby and husband, Ted, of Mount Airy; and many wonderful nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved very much.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious son, Robert Eugene Wray, and a loving sister, Betty Jones Weeks.
A very special thanks with lots of love is extended to the team at Unihealth Post Acute Care for the love and care they gave to Mrs. Wray during the four years in which she lived at the facility, having them as her extended family.
To all the nurses, aides, kitchen employees, hairdresser, housekeeping, maintenance and anyone else who might have helped with any needs she might have had during her stay, a most grateful word of appreciation.
A heartfelt thanks goes to Karen Thompson, director of nursing, and Darryl Taylor, administrator, for their professional standards for compassionate care that they have for all the residents.
A service of remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, followed by visitation amongst family and friends.
Committal and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Wayne Memorial Park at Goldsboro.
