Charles Henry Darden Sr., 75, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Charles was born in Sampson County July 8, 1937, to the late Henry Joseph Darden and Lillie Mae Thompson Darden.
He served his country in the United States Army.
Charles was a retired painter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
Charles is survived by his wife, Evelyn Faye Brock Darden; his sons, Charles H. Darden Jr. and Joseph Darden of Goldsboro; three granddaughters, Beth Anne Cross, Christy Gooding and Alaina Marie Darden; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Diane Winders, and four brothers.
The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
