Johnny Leon Futrell, 72, Vance Drive, went to be with his Lord and savior Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends following the funeral service.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Johnny was born in Wayne County Feb. 28, 1940, to the late Leon and Matilda Ham Futrell.

He was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

Johnny was a lifelong survivor of diabetes since birth with determination to continue to work hard and enjoy his entire life. He was a loving husband, father and PaPa to his grandchildren whom he adored.

He was a general contractor from 1963 until 1991.

He is survived by his loving wife of more than 53 years, Annette Futrell; his children, Andrea Futrell Bailey and husband, David, and Kevin Futrell; three grandchildren, Jeff Bailey and wife, Shelley, Kyle Bailey and Dana Bailey; and two brothers, Milton Futrell and Bobby Futrell and wife, Edith.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Futrell Tolar, and brother, Delano Futrell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Va., 22312.
