James David "J.D." Holland, 69, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held today, March 25, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Free Chapel Church with Pastor Mike Williams and Pastor Harmon Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Holland Family Cemetery.
J.D. was born in Wayne County on Dec. 3, 1942, to the late Leslie Glenn Holland and Lillie Correna Woodard Holland. He was a member of Free Chapel Church. J.D. always enjoyed delivering the Goldsboro News-Argus with his sister.
J.D. is survived by his sister, Betty Holland Kearney of Goldsboro; his brother, Billy Rae Holland and wife, Peggy, of Newport News, Va.; nieces and nephews, Karen Peele and husband, Jeff, Cynthia Starling and husband, Michael, Wiley Wellons and wife, Stephanie, Glenn Holland and wife, Melissa, Lisa Smith and fiancé, Eric; and his special pet, Smokie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Wellons.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at his sister's home.
