RUTH SELIGMAN KADIS

Ruth Seligman Kadis passed away on March 19, 2012, at the age of 94.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

She was born in Douglas, Ga. on Sept. 9, 1917, to Rosa and Louis Seligman. Ruth grew up in Statesboro, Ga., where she graduated from High School and later furthered her education at the University of Georgia with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school several years before joining Civil Service which took her to the Panama Canal Zone.

On Aug. 27, 1950, she married Nathan Kadis (deceased) which brought her to Goldsboro, where she lived out the rest of her life. Ruth is survived by her son, Sheldon of Benson, and a daughter, Marcia Kadis Vincent, of Harrisburg. She also leaves behind a beloved grandson, Brandon Vincent, of Raleigh, and was predeceased by her other grandson, Cory Vincent of Charlotte.

Ruth may be remembered as "that book lady" while in management for World Book Encyclopedia for 17 years until her retirement in 1979. Since then Ruth has been active in the Mental Health Community earning the ZEALY Award for Volunteer of the Year.

Having been active in Bridge and Water Aerobics among other actives, Ruth will be sorely missed for her zest for life by her many friends and family.
