DONALD RAY LYNCH

Donald Ray Lynch, 72, of Goldsboro passed away on Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held Monday evening at 6 p.m. at Love Memorial Church with the Revs. Richard Toler and Johnny Sasser officiating. Family members will greet friends following the service. A committal service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

He was the son of the late Hazel L. Pickup and John L. Lynch Jr. of Goldsboro, and was the husband of Sarah Potts Lynch. He was a member of Love Memorial Baptist Church where he served as choir director, deacon, Sunday school teacher, trustee, and various other committees, as well as a former member, choir director, and deacon at Emmaus Baptist Church. Donald had a love for family and friends, especially gospel music friends, and was a member of the Royall Descendents gospel group. He enjoyed all sports: tennis, boating, motorcycling, softball, camping and most of all serving his Lord and savior.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lynch is survived by a daughter, Donna Lynch Haggerty and husband, Bill, of Seven Springs; a daughter-in-law, Gail Lynch of Dudley; five grandchildren, Jordan Ford of Tallahassee, Fla., Jenna Ford, of Macon, Ga., Adam, Anna, and Amanda Haggerty all of Seven Springs; a sister-in-law, Judy Lynch of Topsail Island, and a nephew, George Lynch and wife, Cherise, of Raleigh.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lynch; a brother, John D. Lynch, and a nephew, John D. Lynch Jr.

The family wishes to thank everyone who has ministered to the family during the past year or so. A special thanks goes to Susan Roberts and Virginia Kent of the Veterans Hospital in Durham; Dr. Mayo and Dr. Dove at Wayne Memorial Hospital's ICU; and the entire nursing staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital's ICU.
