MOUNT OLIVE -- Perry D. Kornegay, 76, Beautancus community, died Thursday morning, March 22, at Quinn Hospice in Kenansville.

A retired farmer, he was an avid hunter, and was a member of both the Local Wildlife and North Duplin Hunting clubs.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 23, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Dail and the Rev. Ralph Parker officiating. Committal and burial will be Saturday, March 24, at 11 a.m. at Devotional Gardens Cemetery in Warsaw.

Visitation will be at the funeral home following the funeral service Friday, and at other times at the home.

Mr. Kornegay is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Perry Lee and Anita Rollins Kornegay of the home; another daughter-in-law, Barbara Thompson Kornegay and fiance, Phil Combs, both of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Carmen Kornegay Oates and husband, Brian, and Chris Kornegay and wife, Michelle, all of Mount Olive and Tonya Ginevan and husband, Greg, of Abilene, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jackson Oates, Austin Kornegay and Garrett and Cheyann Ginevan; two sisters, Sara K. Head and husband, Ross, of Mount Olive and Joyce K. Sullivan of Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Curvie Arnette Kornegay; two sons, Ronnie Dean Kornegay and Ricky Neal Kornegay; parents, Harry Lee and Georgia Byrd Kornegay; sister, Rachel K. Jackson; and brothers, Everett Lee Kornegay and Eldridge Kornegay.
