JACK CLIFTON BISSETTE SR.

WILMINGTON -- Jack Clifton Bissette Sr., 86, Wilmington, formerly of Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center Wilmington.

He was born Aug. 26, 1925, the son of the late Zachary and Annie Rice Bissette, and was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Bissette.

Mr. Bissette was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II.

He was graduate of New Hanover High School of 1943.

He was a longtime member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

He worked in the insurance field for many years until his retirement.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Hobbs Bissette of the home; a son, Jack C. Bissette Jr. and wife, Rose, of Wilmington; a sister-in-law, Ruby Bissette also of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Jack C. "Jay" Bissette III and wife, Jennifer, of Raleigh and Thomas K. Bissette and wife, Stanton, of Wilmington; and a great-grandchild, Cecelia Rose Bissette also of Raleigh.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Faison Cemetery Faison, by Dr. Robert "Bob" Fulkerson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, N.C., 28401, or Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 300 S. Madison Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
